Humans are very adaptable creatures. We are liable to find a semblance of comfort everywhere, even in terrible situations.
It is true that when one lingers too long in the dark, it starts to grow on one.
Sometimes we forget what true comforts feels like when the challenges of life pull us into despair. Fulfillment may seem so far-flung that we’d just rather remain in the calmness of inertia.
It is no surprise, is it? Escaping the darkness can be a daunting task.
It is while escaping the dark that you begin to realise the depth of your predicament. That’s when the shadows become obvious, the drought, the pits, the deserts, the regret, the shame—that’s when you come to face your demons.
They’ll scare you to the bone, but you must keep walking through. You do not escape from the valley of the shadow of death by cowering in despair. No, you keep walking—knowing that the good Lord is with you.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
Psalms 23:4
Do not take comfort in the dark. Walk, walk through the valley of the shadow of death.
